Using flat stock aluminum 1/8" x 3/4" x 36", cut two pieces 15" long. Round
the ends with a bench grinder or a file and make perfectly smooth with no
burrs. On one end drill a 3/8" hole, centered in the radius. At this point
you might want to use your favorite aluminum polish or mag wheel polish to
make the bars look nearly like chrome.
Clamp end with hole in it in a vice two inches down the flat stock. Bend
stock at a 45 degree angle. Clamp the next three inches in a vice and bend
BACK 45 degrees. Both ends should now be approx. perpendicular to each other
and can be bent slightly, depending on how far you like your bags away from
wheels.
Remove the cast aluminum bracket from the side of fender with the two bolts
reachable from the inside of fender. Slip the support bracket end with hole
in position under the trim bracket and reinstall. Set the angle you prefer
before tightening all the way down. My bags had tie-downs located at the
inside bottom on bag which aids in keeping the bags from swaying outward on
turns.
Repeat this procedure for the other side.
Cost? about 5 bucks
